Four steps, and the price is on the screen before you commit to any of them.

Hold them as USD for as long as you like — they earn up to 6.5% APY depending on your plan while they sit there. Nothing converts until you tell it to.
The account and the amount. You see the MXN figure they will receive, and the all-in percentage, before you confirm anything.
It leaves your USD balance and arrives in their Mexico bank account over SPEI. Transfers land within minutes, at any hour.
Three things one USD balance can do. Which one is cheapest depends on what the money is for.
The one this page is about. USD out of your balance, MXN into theirs on SPEI, at 0.99% to 2.89% all-in depending on the amount.
There is no rule that says you convert today. Dollars sitting in your balance earn up to 6.5% APY depending on your plan, and the exchange happens when you send, not when you deposit.
A SmashX card spends the same balance at most merchants that accept cards, and a virtual card on Mastercard as well — useful when the money was never meant to become MXN at all.

Priced on the amount sent, not on your plan. A paid plan then takes 10%, 15% or 20% off whatever that comes to.

All-in means the transfer fee and the exchange markup together. There is no separate spread underneath it, and nothing converts until you tell it to.
The last mile decides it, so here is each rail on its own rather than one blended promise.
| Rail | Typical arrival | What decides it |
|---|---|---|
| SPEI | Within minutes | Mexico’s real-time rail, run by Banco de México and open 24 hours a day. Once the transfer clears our side it is credited within minutes, at any hour, including weekends. |
A first transfer can take longer while the identity check completes. After that the timings above are the whole story.
The same controls apply to a $50 transfer and a $50,000 one.
Identity and business verification runs through our regulated compliance partner before an account or card is issued.
Anti-money-laundering and Bank Secrecy Act controls apply to every account.
SmashPay Inc. is a registered Money Services Business with FinCEN.
The MXN amount and the all-in percentage are both shown before you confirm. Nothing converts on its own.

The transfer is one thing the account does. Here is the rest of it.
Hold balances in more than one currency and move between them when the rate suits you, rather than at the moment a payment happens to arrive.
SmashX cards spend the same balance at most merchants that accept cards — and virtual cards on Mastercard too, wherever that is the better network. Card controls and limits are yours to set. A virtual card is issued straight away.
Idle dollars earn up to 6.5% APY depending on your plan, and you can withdraw whenever you choose. Money waiting to be sent does not have to sit still.
Plus, Premium and Metal take 10%, 15% and 20% off transfers and raise the rate you earn. If you send rarely, the free plan is the honest answer.
Between 0.99% and 2.89% of what you send, depending on the amount — smaller transfers cost proportionally more because the fixed costs are the same. That figure is the fee and the exchange markup together. A paid plan takes 10%, 15% or 20% off it.
Transfers land within minutes, at any hour. The table above breaks it down by rail. A first transfer can take longer while the identity check completes.
Into a Mexico bank account over SPEI, the same rails a domestic transfer uses. You enter the account details once and see the MXN amount before you confirm.
Yes. You can start a transfer at any time. Whether it lands immediately depends on the rail it takes — the real-time rail runs around the clock, and anything that settles in batches waits for the next banking day.
No, and you do not need a US address either. You hold real US dollars with SmashPay and send from that balance.
It stays in USD and earns up to 6.5% APY depending on your plan. Nothing converts automatically — the exchange happens when you send, at the rate you were shown.
The rate shown in the converter at the top of this page, which moves with the market. The markup is already inside the all-in percentage, so there is no second number underneath the one you were quoted.
There is no monthly cap on what you can send. Larger transfers cost proportionally less, down to 0.99% above $5,000. Individual rails have their own per-transfer caps, which is why a large amount may travel by a different one.
Check them before confirming — a transfer sent to a valid account that belongs to someone else is difficult to recall on any network. If a transfer cannot be credited it is returned to your balance.
